TEAC SELECTS TWONKYMEDIA™ SERVER TO POWER WIRELESS AUDIO ON WAP-4500 AND WAP-8500 DEVICES

Powerful Media Server Software Breaks Down Barriers to Make Streaming Digital Audio Content Seamless Throughout the Home

LAS VEGAS (January 8, 2009)—PacketVideo (PV) announced today at CES that its TwonkyMedia server software has been selected by TEAC to enable the seamless sharing of digital audio content on the WAP-4500 and WAP-8500 wireless audio player devices, now available in Europe. A TwonkyMedia server installation CD and license key is shipping standard with the new TEAC products, enabling users to stream audio content located on their home network to the devices, wherever the devices are located throughout the home.

TwonkyMedia server removes the barriers that have traditionally made sharing media among connected devices a painstaking process for consumers. The award-winning media server software provides users the power to enjoy the most file formats – including MP3, OGG, WMA and WAV – without negatively influencing CPU performance. The software is also compatible with Windows-, Mac- and Linux-based systems to meet the unique preferences of any discerning music fan.

The partnership also includes TwonkyMedia branding on product packaging as well as on the physical devices, a testament to TwonkyMedia’s rapidly expanding prevalence within the consumer electronics industry.

“TEAC selected TwonkyMedia server to power digital audio streaming on the WAP-4500 and WAP-8500 devices based on the software’s ease of use, compatibility and plethora of user options,” said Michael Schweigart, Sales Manager “TEAC Media Systems” Europe. “We recognize these product attributes are correlating to rapidly increasing consumer demand, and we’re pleased to feature TwonkyMedia branding on our device and packaging to help further showcase two phenomenal products that we feel will make a tremendous mark on the connected home industry.”

With TwonkyMedia server, TEAC device users enjoy user-friendly menu options, customizable navigation settings, and advanced content search and discovery capabilities. The software also supports multiple languages, as well as web-based services such as Internet radio.

The WAP-4500 is TEAC’s professional wireless audio player geared towards the experienced music fan. It provides users the ability to listen to their digital music collection on the device from a USB stick or external hard disk drive, as well as by streaming audio content from their PC or NAS to the device using TwonkyMedia server. The WAP-4500 also provides access to popular Internet radio stations directly from the web using PV’s software.

The WAP-8500 is TEAC’s premium line device, incorporating features similar to the WAP-4500, with additions including access to even more internet radio stations, as well as a brilliant 3.5-inch touch screen display. Additional product information is available at www.dspd.teac.de.

“Consumers are collecting media files in massive quantities and want to share these files on connected devices throughout the home without hassle,” said Joel Espelien, Chief Business Officer, PV. “By incorporating TwonkyMedia server on its latest wireless audio player devices and by featuring the software as part of its branding, TEAC customers will recognize that these products provide the best digital audio experience possible.”
