NEW MOBILE PHONE FROM FUJITSU USES PACKETVIDEO MULTIMEDIA SOFTWARE

F905i is the First Fujitsu Phone to Ship Outside of Japan; Features Advanced Music and Video Capabilities from PacketVideo

SAN DIEGO (February 10, 2009)—PacketVideo (PV) announced today that its multimedia software is powering music and video capabilities for the F905i, Fujitsu’s first phone to ship outside of Japan. Co-developed by NTT DOCOMO, INC. and Fujitsu Limited, the F905i began shipping to Taiwan on Jan. 15, and will offer users flexible music and video capabilities powered by PacketVideo’s universal player software, also known as CORE™ multimedia client framework.

PV’s CORE™ solution can handle a broad array of video and music media and file formats, enabling F905i handset users to seamlessly enjoy 3GPP (MP4) “i-motion” (MMP4), MP3 and Windows Media Audio (WMA) content.

“PV and Fujitsu have a history of working together to bring users the highest quality multimedia experience possible,” said James Brailean, Ph.D, CEO of PV. “As Fujitsu expands its presence into Taiwan with the F905i, the company will also be bringing Taiwanese users advanced and flexible multimedia capabilities thanks to PV.”

Using Microsoft® Windows Media® technology, the F905i handset also support Microsoft’s Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), an accepted industry standard for phone-to-PC transferring, in addition to using Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 (WMDRM10), enabling portable devices to play Windows Media Audio and MP3 content.

“Providing Taiwanese users of the F905i with a high quality multimedia experience is a huge step forward in the adoption of mobile multimedia,” said Kazunori Takagi, president of PacketVideo Japan. “PacketVideo is committed to providing these services to users across the globe, and we will continue to support Fujitsu as they expand in the Asian market.”
