PHILIPS STREAMIUM INTEGRATES PACKETVIDEO'S TWONKYMEDIA SERVER
LISBON, PORTUGAL (March 30, 2009)—Philips Streamium Network Music Players easily integrate into an existing wireless and wired home network and stream Internet radio as well as music from the PC to any room in the house. For easy access and convenient management of the music collection, Philips Streamium is now providing PacketVideo’s TwonkyMedia™ server software with the Network Music Players NP2900 and NP2500.
Once installed on a Windows PC or an Apple MacOS computer, the TwonkyMedia server enables optimized music browsing from the Streamium interface.
Users who want the additional ability to control their Philips devices from a Windows PC and stream photos can download and install the TwonkyMedia browser application at no additional charge, which will become available in Q2 2009.
Based on TwonkyMedia’s drag and drop interface, the media browser automatically shows representations for all compatible music devices in the home. To play music, the user simply drags the desired content – such as a genre, a playlist, an album or individual tracks – onto the selected Philips Music Network Player icon. Multiple playlist formats, including the non-DRM protected tracks from Apple iTunes™, are supported.
Power users looking for the ultimate connected home media experience will be able to download a trial version of TwonkyMedia’s flagship product, TwonkyMedia manager, to work with their UPNP devices. TwonkyMedia manager adds the support for videos, as well as media feeds from popular web services such as YouTube™, Flickr™ and Internet Radio.
