PACKETVIDEO AND SYSTEMPRO TO COLLABORATE ON HIGH-PERFORMANCE MULTIMEDIA SOLUTIONS FOR MOBILE TERMINALS

Increased Innovation and Service Provided to Japanese Mobile Phone OEMs

PacketVideo Corporation and SystemPro Co., Ltd. have agreed to collaborate on providing high-performance multimedia solutions for mobile telephone terminals and embedded multimedia devices. Under the agreement, SystemPro will begin offering porting and implementation services for the integration of PacketVideo multimedia solutions for Japanese terminal and device manufacturers. By delegating selected development work to SystemPro on a project basis, PacketVideo will be able to concentrate resources on developing additional multimedia products for handsets, demands for which are increasing.

“This collaboration agreement effectively combines the mobile telephone system development support and technical support know-how of SystemPro together with PacketVideo’s excellent products,” says Yoshichika Henmi, SystemPro president. “We are integrating the strengths of two companies who are equally committed to jointly develop technology for the mobile communications terminal systems.”

“We are delighted to work with SystemPro to offer our OEM customers in Japan an additional way to get their PacketVideo products to market,” said Dr. James Brailean, PacketVideo CEO. “Their system integration expertise, plus our innovative software, will provide powerful multimedia solutions to device manufacturers.”

“Today, PacketVideo multimedia solutions are included in many NTT DoCoMo FOMA mobile phones,” said Kazunori Takagi, President, PacketVideo Japan. “Other Japanese carriers are integrating multimedia software in their mobile terminals, and there is increasing demand for handsets with integrated multimedia functionality from carriers in North America, Europe, China and other regions. This collaboration will increase our capability to meet the demand.”

SystemPro, with a proven track record of successful design and integration services, in combination with PacketVideo will provide customers with strong solutions, from requirements and specifications development, all the way through to final implementation, integration and test. Technical information and training of engineers required to support the products will also be part of the collaboration.

The collaboration is expected to accelerate propagation of PacketVideo products in Japan and other markets world-wide, and expand SystemPro’s mobile network business. Packetvideo’s mobile multimedia software products are recognized worldwide as the premier technology to deliver audio and video to 2.5th and 3rd generation mobile phones, with millions delivered.
