SDC AG UNVEILS PIONEERING PRODUCT ROADMAP AT MEM 2007
Company highlights ability to support varied business models with label-approved DRM solutions on more than 150 mobile phones
MONTE CARLO (June 4, 2007) - SDC (Secure Digital Container), the label-approved provider of digital rights management (DRM) and media player technology, will be demonstrating new secure content management and distribution solutions at the 2007 Mobile Entertainment Market (MEM) conference, held here this week. SDC is the MEM show’s official DRM sponsor.
Highlights of the SDC product roadmap, shared this week by the company’s CEO Michael Bornhaeusser during a speech at the conference, include an integrated SDC Media Player for the personal computer and mobile devices with the “one client for all services” strategy. This approach combines functionalities such as music and video streaming, integrated music and video download, music and video management, integrated music recognition and TV capabilities all in one client. SDC DRM and media players are now supported by more of 150 different mobile phones, PCs and set-top boxes.
Making it even easier for global operators to deploy distribution for rich-media content, the SDC DRM can now support several new business models, including: new subscription models, distribution via multimedia cards, and embedded content delivery.
“SDC’s products anticipate and address the flexibility operators need in creating new business models for the delivery of multimedia services on the broadest range of devices,” said Bornhaeusser. “Their markets are highly segmented, and the high performance of the SDC solution fuels virtually any service combination they’d like to offer their end-users.”
SDC AG is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland and is a wholly owned subsidiary of PacketVideo Corporation, based in San Diego, California. SDC is known for its Java music client with SDC DRM, capable of supporting full track download and subscription music services on mass-market handsets. The company’s mobile DRM solution, which enables secure video, full-length music and other rich-media-content distribution across wireless devices and PCs, has been adopted and deployed by nearly 20 major carriers worldwide. SDC DRM and SDC Media players are now supported by more than 150 handsets, including a preinstalled version of the software on the new Blackberry® PearlTM phones in the Canadian market.
