PACKETVIDEO'S ADVANCED MULTIMEDIA PLAYER FOR VIDEO AND MUSIC POWERS 14 NEW MODELS IN NTT DoCoMo FOMA® 905i & 705i SERIES
Multiple File Format and DRM-Protected Content Playback Enabled by PacketVideo's Universal Player
TOKYO (Nov. 1, 2007) – PacketVideo Corporation (PV), a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless Inc. (NASDAQ: WAVE), has been selected by NTT DoCoMo to power 14 new advanced multimedia player handset options with PV’s universal player software, also known as CORE™ multimedia client framework.
All 14 handsets – model numbers D905i, F905i, P905i, SH905i, SO905i, P905iTV, SH905iTV, SO905iCS, D705iµ, P705µ, D705i, F705i, P705i, and PROSOLIDµ – are available in the Japanese market shortly. Through PV’s CORE software they all support Microsoft® Windows Media® technology.
Because PV’s CORE software can handle a broad array of media and file formats of video and music, FOMA handset users can play 3GPP (MP4), i-motion (MMP4), and Windows Media content. All 14 handsets support Microsoft’s Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) for phone-to-PC transferring in addition to using Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 (WMDRM10) for portable devices to play Windows Media content. The following 7 models, P905i, SH905i, P905iTV, SH905iTV, P705µ, P705i, and PROSOLIDµ phones supporting Windows Media Video (WMV) for streaming services enable watching video content on network with full-browser application at 30 frames per second.
