Strategic Partners Continue Collaborating More Closely than Ever on Mobile Multimedia Innovation Following Successful DOCOMO Investment in PacketVideo in July 2009

SAN DIEGO – Nov. 16, 2009 PacketVideo (PV) today announced that its market-leading CORE™ mobile multimedia software has now shipped in a milestone 100th NTT DOCOMO handset, to provide advanced mobile multimedia capabilities to NTT DOCOMO customers in Japan. The new models – docomo STYLE series™ F-02B, P-02B, SH-02B, SH-04B, SH-05B, N-01B, N-03B, docomo PRIME series™ F-01B, F-04B, N-02B, P-01B, SH-01B, docomo SMART series™ P-03B, F-03B, docomo PRO series™ SH-03B – will be available in the Japanese market this winter. The strategic partners are now collaborating more closely than ever to accelerate innovation and growth in mobile multimedia software and services following NTT DOCOMO’s successful investment in PV in July 2009.

PV’s CORE software provides a proven universal structure for all multimedia applications, including support for media streaming and side loading, audio/video/photo playback, digital rights management and more. CORE has shipped in more than 360 million devices to date, providing NTT DOCOMO and other mobile operators with key business advantages including accelerated time to market for new media applications and services, reduced operational costs and resources, and the highest quality user experience possible.

“PV and NTT DOCOMO have enjoyed a productive partnership for more than a decade, enabling PV’s technologies to be incorporated in multimedia applications for NTT DOCOMO’s FOMA 3G mobile network services,” said Dr. Kiyohito Nagata, Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Product Department of NTT DOCOMO. “More recently, our investment and newly formed strategic alliance with PV is enabling NTT DOCOMO to collaborate more closely with our partner than ever before to strengthen our position in advanced music and video services in Japan. Launching our 100th device with PV is a testament to the strength of our alliance, and the tremendous value PV continues to provide across our product offerings.”

“NTT DOCOMO is an influential force in the continuing advancement of mobile technologies and standards,” said Jim Brailean, Ph.D., CEO of PV. “PV has a tremendous opportunity to work hand-in-hand with NTT DOCOMO to develop products for Japanese customers, who represent a very leading-edge market.”

In 2001, NTT DOCOMO and PV teamed up to introduce FOMA™, the world’s first 3G commercial mobile service based on W-CDMA standards, which has transformed the mobile landscape in Japan while bringing the NTT DOCOMO brand global recognition. Today, PV provides multimedia software on a multitude of NTT DOCOMO handsets from leading manufacturers including Fujitsu, NEC, Panasonic, Sharp, and others.

“We look forward to supporting the next 100 devices as we work with NTT DOCOMO to bring the best music, photo and video services to their new line of handsets, and converge that media seamlessly in the home as well,” said Kazunori Takagi, President of PV Japan. “We are honored that NTT DOCOMO has joined PV as an investor, and we are working in concert to introduce new, leading edge multimedia opportunities in Japan that will set the precedent worldwide.”
