Technology

MediaFusion™ can be integrated with existing back-end content providers for previously launched services and with new providers for new or planned services. The use of common definitions for media service types and adapters for specific back-end services makes this possible.

MediaFusion capabilities:

  • Combines multiple media and entertainment services into a single, easy-to-use application.
  • Personalized storefront becomes more targeted with each use.
  • No "dead-end" navigation.
  • Users can opt to receive notifications with information on their favorite artists, content and services.
  • Player is fully integrated into MediaFusion and the storefront.
  • Fully hosted or software-deployable application server available, designed and optimized for music and video services.

The MediaFusion mobile client application works with the MediaFusion platform, which integrates media services through standard interfaces, links these services to the client application, and provides a dynamically customizable interface to applications. The platform brings together existing or planned back-end content providers with the MediaFusion client to provide services such as personalized streaming radio, live TV or video on demand. The platform uses a combination of Web-services interfaces plus a rich services client available for both Java and native environments. Our native client supports high performance native code development, as well as plug-ins to rich media scripting engines such as Flash or Flash Lite.

MediaFusion platform

The hosted MediaFusion platform provides a single media services framework that enables you to launch, manage and monetize music and video services. At its essence is the concept of service abstraction. By creating a common definition for various media services such as streaming radio, live TV, and music on demand, the platform allows for better separation of service layers and minimizes risk involved in complex media services.

MediaFusion utilizes unified media catalogs and defined abstractions for the media services with which the client interacts. With the MediaFusion platform, a single request from the client can touch as many back-end systems as needed to furnish the response. For example, a single request can accomplish a cross-catalog search or purchase of a cross-catalog bundle. The MediaFusion platform can combine information from multiple media services in flexible ways. For example, when the client displays a live TV channel, MediaFusion can provide information on the current TV program, next program, and most popular video on demand clips for programs that appear on the TV channel displayed. The unified media catalogs and service abstractions reduce client latency and complexity, and more importantly, promote more freedom in the user interface.

The MediaFusion platform also provides the ability to add additional application functionality over time through upgrades to the integrated client and the incorporation of additional content services into the MediaFusion platform.

The MediaFusion platform is designed to work with the MediaFusion clients for both native and Java platforms. These clients can be highly extended and customized.

MediaFusion client

The MediaFusion client provides one unified way to find, purchase, play back and interact with music and video content. The MediaFusion client accesses media services through a set of client APIs with a variety of access mechanisms including WBXML, JSON, XML and Java Object Serialization. These APIs are documented separately and according to function.
